A video image (the larger the better!) flat panel display, rear projection, or projector and screen.
Audio from the source, amplified through a surround sound receiver and distributed to the front, sides, and rear of the room.
Video sources, HD cable or satellite box, DVD player (Blu ray preferred), game system, or media server.
The first question you should ask yourself is, Where would I like to relax ?
Once you have decided on the room or space, the next step is to measure seating distance from the video image. This should determine what the video image type should be. Speakers should be large enough to re-produce the sound efficiently and blend seamlessly into your room decor.
